Hello to everyone reading this blog !
It is about a personnal project I discussed with my friends in November 2014, one of them told me that his father paid for an old school console like this one :
So my project was about to build something like that but for "free", I'll explain later what's free and what isn't.
The name of the project is "Consolation". Why ?
- first of all, it's because it is made to be ultimately a console- it is a consolation between PC & Console players
What is the aim of Consolation ?
- it is a method, so you don't have to pay for it- to save your money
- having multiples consoles and lots of differents games on the same hardware
- to give the player the freedom to choose between playing with mouse/keyboard and playing with a controller.
Who will benefit from it ?
I would say every players but it wouldn't be completely true, here again this is something that I will explain later in the blog. And, at the same time, everyone who wants to have fun sometimes, in a group or alone.
Problem(s) solved with this solution ?
- no multiple consoles (gain space in your room!, save your money)- no multiple screens (save your money, you'll only need one screen)
- if you had only one screen, you won't have to plug & unplug each time you want to play on a different console
Description
Basically, Consolation is about being about to play games from differents consoles on your computer. It uses emulators and the software Steam for its interface console type called Big Picture.Setting up my project with
Primary
a PC (The best way to use it would be to connect it to your TV, Home Cinema...)Steam
at least one gamepad (read the article about controllers)
Secondary
Dolphin EmulatorProject64 Emulator
ePSXe Emulator
PCSX2 Emulator
Snes9x Emulator
fceux Emulator
Split Screen Tools
Future development(s) ?
- coding something that allow XBOX360 and Dualshock 4 controllers to quit an emulator using their HOME button
- Disable the "saving mod" on the XBOX360 controller that turns it off after 5min in idle and coding something that allow this controller to be turned off like the Dualshock4.
